The Navigating Information Sharing webinar that was delivered on September 14, 2012 by the National Center for Mental Health Promotion and Youth Violence Prevention.

The purpose of the webinar was to help school and community partnerships better understand how they can share information to help youth involved in multiple systems. Lourdes Rosado, an information sharing attorney from the Juvenile Law Center, SS/HS Project Directors, and National Center staff presented a series of essential questions to help communities navigate information sharing laws and practices. Scenarios were presented, as well as highlights from the National Center’s new Navigating Information Sharing Toolkit website.

The learning objectives for this webinar were for participants to be able to: (1) name the steps in the process of implementing information sharing; (2) see the value of a framework of “essential questions to ask” in dealing with information sharing; and (3) use the NIS Website Toolkit to assist in learning the laws and other aspects of school-community information sharing.
