Social service agency asks school to share information regarding homeless student (including the IEP)

A 17-year-old student has moved from living with his mother in one community to living with his father in another community. The student has special needs and has an IEP (Individualized Education Program). The student’s education record from his former school has been transferred to his new school. After a short period of time in the new community, the student and his father are evicted from their home. They become homeless, and the son stops attending school. The father and son become connected to a community social service agency.
