Conferencing: A New Approach for Juvenile Justice in Honolulu

This article features the results of a juvenile diversion pilot program conducted by the Honolulu Police Department where juveniles were diverted to a restorative conferencing program instead of more traditional programs. Results showed that victims were highly satisfied with the process and outcomes and that the juveniles arrested for nonviolent offenses were much less likely to be re-arrested for violent crimes in the future than those diverted to the traditional programs.
