Action Steps to Implement Recommendations for Reducing Suspension and Expulsion in California Schools

Using the findings from a year-long review and analysis of California schools conducted in 2010 and with input from leaders in education, mental health, and juvenile justice from across California, this resource proposes eight recommendations for policymakers and practitioners. Underlying each of the eight recommendations is the understanding that schools must focus more resources on prevention and providing services in early childhood in order to prevent problems from emerging later on.
