Technical Assistance Specialist
Early Childhood Expert
(617) 618-2408

pcameron@edc.org

Ms. Cameron has been in the early childhood field for more than 30 years. She’s been a public school teacher in New Hampshire teaching Kindergarten and first grade. In 1980, she relocated to Massachusetts and continued her early childhood teaching in Head Start and then child care with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers; eventually becoming a director. Moving to the state level in 1996, Patty joined the staff of the Governor’s Commission on Mental Retardation; then Early Learning Services at the then Department of Education in 1998 (now Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) as the fiscal accountability specialist, monitoring programs and providing technical assistance to program people to become more fiscally responsible. In 2005, the new Department of Early Education and Care was created and Patty became the State’s 619 Coordinator for preschool special education. She provided guidance to schools, parents and early education and care providers regarding eligibility for special education, transition, and compliance as well as participated in several multi-agency collaborative projects (e.g., SpecialQuest, CSEFEL, NASDSE’s Personnel Center grant). Ms. Cameron has her B.S. in Elementary Education (K-8) from Plymouth State University.

Patty joined the staff at EDC in January 2010 as the TAS with Project LAUNCH and Safe Schools/Healthy Families as the early childhood expert.
