About the SS/HS TA Center
SS/HS grantees have access to two training and technical assistance providers supported by the SS/HS Federal partners.
Programmatic Training and TA
The National Center provides programmatic training and technical assistance in most areas in which SS/HS grantees work, including strategic planning, coalition building/partnership development, program assessment, evaluation, sustainability strategies, and cultural competence.
Our TA philosophy is based on research and years of experience working with schools and communities. We provide grantees the latest information on evidence-based interventions and promising practices and access to practical resources, strategies, and connections that build organizations’ capacity and sustain new partnerships and programs.
The TA team responds to evolving grantee needs by assigning a primary technical assistance specialist (TAS) as a point of contact for day-to-day support. TASs reach out to grantees by phone, email, and site visits to build trusting relationships, assess grantee assets and needs, create customized TA service plans, and connect grantees with appropriate National Center services.
The TA team includes professionals with expertise in mental health, violence prevention, juvenile justice, law enforcement, education, and substance use, as well as leadership, strategic planning, communications, evaluation, cultural and linguistic competence, and technology. TASs draw from each others’ knowledge and expertise to develop cutting-edge, developmentally appropriate products and services.
Communications Training and TA
The Communication and Social Marketing Center provides training and technical assistance in communications and social marketing to all SS/HS grantees. Their team of communications and marketing professionals help SS/HS grant sites promote their programs and services, plan and conduct social marketing campaigns, and use communications to support their ongoing sustainability efforts.
If you are an SS/HS grantee with a question and are unsure of whom to contact, visit the SAMHSA SS/HS Web site for a guide.
