Grantees to participate in Rural Mental Health Symposium This symposium, sponsored by SAMHSA/CMHS, and taking place June 6-9 in Moran, Wyoming, will bring grantees, Federal representatives, and partner organizations together to explore promising practices for providing comprehensive community-based services for children with serious emotional disturbances and their families. Several SS/HS grantees will be attending and/or presenting at this event. National Center staff will also be present, participating in several events, including a panel on funding rural mental health programs, a workshop on customizing mental health services to fit the needs of rural communities, and a workshop on successful coalition building. A summary of these presentations will be available at promoteprevent.org in mid-June. YVPP grantee to host conference in September The Illinois Center for Violence Prevention will host their tenth annual conference September 28-29, 2006 in Arlington Heights, Illinois . "vision.action.change: Preventing Bullying and Relational Aggression" will feature national and local experts on bullying prevention, relational aggression, and social exclusion as well as a special track of youth-led sessions. Adult and youth violence prevention practitioners are encouraged to attend this opportunity for skill building, information sharing, resource-gathering and networking.
